Anna Dempsey

Anna Dempsey is a Florida born writer, teacher and PhD student at Bath Spa University with co-supervision at the University of Bristol. Her practice-based Creative Writing PhD focuses on personal grief (specifically the loss of a parent), environmental grief and how fiction is used to navigate both.

She has an MA in Creative Writing/Children’s Literature from Goldsmiths University and teaches young people creative writing and English in the London area.  

Anna has been published in Popshot, Dear Damsels and Ellipsis Zine. In 2019 she won the Costa Short Story Award and in 2020 was longlisted for the Curtis Brown Discoveries Prize.
