Constanza Dessain

Constanza Dessain is an artist and researcher concerned with the traces we leave and the liveliness of matter. Her drawings and prints are a lens for thinking about time, care and our relationship to the Environment. She studied Social Anthropology at Cambridge University, Print at the Royal College of Art and is a PhD candidate at the Centre For Fine Print Research, University of West England and Reading School of Art. In the Phd project she takes imprints directly from the surfaces of an agrarian landscape in southern Scotland, working with the material qualities of gelatine in a process repurposed from a 19th Century printing process called the woodburytype.  She is a tutor at the Royal Drawing School and visiting lecturer at Falmouth University, University of West England and Leith School of Art. She also works for the technology specialist Factum Arte.
